Puppy School Classes

Puppy classes run on Sunday evenings in The Old Mill Hall in Grove, 5:15 or 6:30 depending on which course is starting when your pup will be fully vaccinated. Pups must be under 20 weeks when they begin classes. and its best to start as early as possible, as soon as they are fully vaccinated around 12 weeks of age. To avoid disappointment book on as soon as you get your puppy and you know roughly when he will be fully vaccinated. Socialising your pup with other dogs and people is extremely important to do as early as possible (before 12 weeks of age) so carry your pup outside to meet new people, traffic etc and introduce him to family and friend's dogs that you know are fully vaccinated and healthy.

Using fun reward based methods we will teach you how to train your dog to sit, lay down, stand, have a good recall, walk nicely on a loose lead, settle, stay, leave, play with and greet people appropriately and get them used to being touched handled and groomed by people. In addition we spend time letting the pups play together so they continue to learn how to mix with other dogs and learn that other dogs are fun to be with. We socialise the pups with children and other adults attending class so the pups grow up to be happy with people.

There is lots of advice availabe about how to deal with puppy play biting, toilet training and other common puppy problems.

If you have never reared a puppy before then I can visit you and your pup at home before they are fully vaccinated and come to class to offer advice and help if you feel you need it.  Call for details.

Our aim at Puppy School is for your pup to grow up to be well mannered, well behaved and a pleasure to own.  As well as the time spent in class handouts are given  after each session so you can go home and practise all the exercises covered and demonstrate to the rest of the family how to teach your pup well. It's with patience, time and consistency that your pup will learn all you are teaching him/her.

The hall is unavailable on the 7th March so there will be no classes running that day.

21st March 5:15-6:15

Booking is essential as we have small classes, call or email now! A new class begins roughly every 3 weeks so you don't have to wait too long before attending and you are welcome to just pop in and visit any class you like!

There is always a 1:1 service available if you can't make the classes and remember the puppy parties on Thursday evenings, 5-6pm.
